H.J.Res. 145 — Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to limit the terms of office of the judges of the Supreme Court and inferior courts.

This section establishes 20-year terms for each judge of the Supreme Court and each inferior court, replacing lifetime tenure during good behavior with a fixed term of 20 years. It also bars any person who has served a 20-year term on a Supreme Court or inferior court from being reappointed to the same court. This article applies only to judicial appointments made on or after the date of ratification.
