H.J.Res. 16 — Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States extending the right to vote to citizens sixteen years of age or older.

This section proposes a constitutional amendment that would repeal the 26th Amendment and establish a new constitutional right for U.S. citizens who are 16 years of age or older to vote, prohibiting the United States or any state from denying or abridging that right on account of age. It also grants Congress authority to enforce the amendment through appropriate legislation. The proposed amendment would take effect only if ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the states within 7 years after submission for ratification.
