H.R. 1017 — Stop the Invasion of Women’s Spaces Act

This section provides the short title of the Act as the “Stop the Invasion of Women’s Spaces Act.”

This section prohibits the provision of Federal funds, directly or indirectly, to any private entity or non-Federal, State, Tribal, or local government agency or department that permits an individual to access or use a single-sex facility on its property that does not correspond to that person’s biological sex, except in specified circumstances. The prohibition does not apply when emergency medical personnel enter such a facility while responding to a medical emergency or when a law enforcement officer does so in active pursuit of a suspect or as part of an active investigation. The section defines “biological sex” as the biological determination of whether an individual is male or female, “entity” to include private entities and non-Federal, State, Tribal, and local governmental bodies, and “single-sex facility” to include restrooms, locker rooms, and changing rooms intended for use by one biological sex.
