H.R. 1159 — Honoring Our Fallen TSA Officers Act

This section provides the short title of the Act as the “Honoring Our Fallen TSA Officers Act.”

This section expands eligibility for public safety officers’ death benefits to include Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees performing official duties related to protecting the Nation’s transportation systems to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce. (Thus, a TSA employee killed in the line of duty while carrying out those transportation security responsibilities would be treated as a covered public safety officer for purposes of the death benefit program under 34 U.S.C. § 10284.)

This section applies the Act and its amendments to injuries sustained on or after October 31, 2013, by an individual described in 34 U.S.C. § 10284(14)(H), as added by the Act.
