H.R. 1216 — Defund Government-Sponsored Propaganda Act

This section establishes the short title as the “Defund Government-Sponsored Propaganda Act.”

This section prohibits Federal funds from being made available, directly or indirectly, to the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), National Public Radio (NPR), or any successor organization, including through the payment of dues or the purchase of programming by a public broadcast station using Federal funds. It also requires the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to transfer to the public debt account established under 31 U.S.C. § 3113(d), for fiscal years 2025, 2026, and 2027, an amount equal to the funds that otherwise would have been made available to PBS or NPR under 47 U.S.C. § 396(k)(3)(A)(ii) and (iii). (Thus, Federal support that would have flowed to these organizations is redirected to deficit reduction for 3 fiscal years.)
