H.R. 135 — Manatee Protection Act of 2025

This section establishes the short title of the Act as the “Manatee Protection Act of 2025.”

This section designates the West Indian manatee (Trichechus manatus) as an endangered species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (16 U.S.C. 1531 et seq.) and directs the Secretary of the Interior to include it on the endangered species list published under 16 U.S.C. 1533(c). (Thus, the species would receive the protections that apply to endangered species under the act, including restrictions on take and federal actions that may affect the species.)
