H.R. 1404 — CHAMPVA Children’s Care Protection Act of 2025

This section establishes the short title of the Act as the “CHAMPVA Children’s Care Protection Act of 2025.”

This section increases the maximum age for a child to be eligible for medical care under the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA) to the child’s 26th birthday, from age 23, regardless of marital status. (Thus, children covered under 38 U.S.C. § 1781 may receive CHAMPVA medical care for up to 3 additional years.) It also preserves eligibility for a child described in 38 U.S.C. § 101(4)(A)(ii) without limiting that child’s benefits under subsection (a). The change applies to medical care provided on or after the date of enactment.
