H.R. 1407 — Permanent Telehealth from Home Act

This section establishes the short title as the “Permanent Telehealth from Home Act.”

This section removes the geographic-site limitation for certain Medicare telehealth services after the COVID-19 public health emergency and extends the availability of those services beyond March 31, 2025. Specifically, it amends section 1834(m) of the Social Security Act to strike language that limited the expanded telehealth rules to the period beginning after the emergency period described in section 1135(g)(1)(B) and ending March 31, 2025, and replaces it with language applying those rules after the emergency period ends. (Thus, Medicare beneficiaries may continue to receive telehealth services without the prior geographic restrictions at eligible originating sites after the emergency period.)
