H.R. 1416 — Parental Oversight and Educational Transparency Act

This section provides the short title of the Act as the “Parental Oversight and Educational Transparency Act.”

This section revises the parental notification and consent requirements for certain school activities under the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment in 20 U.S.C. § 1232h by (1) redesignating the existing local educational agency notice requirement as clause (i), and (2) adding a new clause (ii) requiring the agency to directly notify a parent at least 14 days before the specific date of an activity described in subparagraph (C) and to receive the parent’s written consent before the student may participate. (Thus, the provision adds a 14-day advance notice and written-consent requirement for covered activities.)
