H.R. 1470 — SOS Act of 2025

This section establishes the short title as the “Strengthening Our Schools Act of 2025” or the “SOS Act of 2025.”

This section reauthorizes funding for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program under subchapter XVI of title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, increasing the authorization to $1,097,119,000 for each of fiscal years 2026 through 2035 (from $1,047,119,000 for each of fiscal years 2006 through 2009). It also directs that not less than $50,000,000 of those funds be allocated for grants to units of local government or law enforcement agencies for school resource officer purposes under section 1701(b)(12).
