H.R. 1488 — To repeal the authorizations for use of military force against Iraq.

This section repeals the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution, Public Law 102–1 (105 Stat. 3; 50 U.S.C. 1541 note). (Thus, the statutory authorization for the use of U.S. Armed Forces against Iraq enacted in 1991 would no longer remain in force.)

This section repeals the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 (Public Law 107–243; 116 Stat. 1498; 50 U.S.C. 1541 note), thereby removing that specific statutory authorization for the use of military force against Iraq. (Thus, any future use of force would need to rely on another declaration of war, specific statutory authorization, or a national emergency created by attack under 50 U.S.C. § 1541(c).)
