H.R. 1635 — Pell to Grad Act

This section revises the period of eligibility for Federal Pell Grants (i.e., need-based aid to low-income students). (1) increases the maximum duration of eligibility from 12 semesters (or equivalent) to 16 semesters; and (2) authorizes Pell Grants for a student's first postbaccalaureate course of study at an eligible institution of higher education if the student received Pell Grants for at least 1 but fewer than 16 undergraduate semesters, remains otherwise eligible notwithstanding completion of a baccalaureate degree, and does not exceed the 16-semester limit (excluding time in noncredit or remedial courses).
