H.R. 1647 — Tribal Climate Health Assurance Act of 2025

This section establishes the Climate Ready Tribes Initiative under new section 317W of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 247b et seq.). Under the initiative, the Secretary, acting through the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and in coordination with the National Indian Health Board, must (1) translate climate change science to inform Tribal governments, health departments, and communities; (2) create decision-support tools to build capacity to prepare for climate change; (3) serve as a credible leader in planning and preparing for the public health impacts of climate change; (4) identify, assess, and take action to mitigate climate-related health threats; and (5) share relevant materials and resources, including information about funding opportunities. It authorizes $110 million for FY2026 and each fiscal year thereafter, prohibiting the Secretary from transferring or reprogramming such funds to another program.
