H.R. 1670 — Family Building FEHB Fairness Act

This section adds fertility treatment benefits to the types of benefits that may be provided under the Service Benefit Plan and Indemnity Benefit Plan of the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program, which provides health insurance to federal civilian employees, retirees, and dependents. It defines fertility treatment to include (1) preservation of human oocytes, sperm, or embryos; (2) artificial insemination; (3) assisted reproductive technology such as in vitro fertilization; (4) genetic testing of embryos; (5) fertility medications; (6) gamete donation; and (7) other related services as determined by the Office of Personnel Management Director in coordination with the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The amendments take effect one year after enactment.
