H.R. 1812 — Care Across Generations Act

This section establishes a competitive grant program under the Older Americans Act of 1965, administered by the Assistant Secretary for Aging, to award grants to eligible entities (i.e., organizations operating long-term care facilities) for (1) operating or contracting for a qualified child care facility within the long-term care facility; (2) coordinating multigenerational activities between the child care and long-term care facilities; and (3) building a new or expanding an existing long-term care facility for those purposes. Long-term care facilities include skilled nursing facilities, nursing facilities, board and care facilities, assisted living facilities, and similar adult care homes; qualified child care facilities must principally provide child care assistance and comply with applicable state and local laws; and multigenerational activities have the meaning given in section 417(h)(1) of the Older Americans Act. Grant recipients must evaluate program effectiveness and impacts on older individuals and children, report results to the Assistant Secretary within six months after the grant period ends (minimum 36 months), and include certifications of infection control measures such as visitor screening and compliance with state and local sanitation requirements. Not later than six months after receiving all grantee reports, the Assistant Secretary must submit a report to the House Committee on Education and Labor and the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions summarizing grantee activities, dissemination strategies, and policy recommendations.
