H.R. 1921 — Hearing Device Coverage Clarification Act

This section directs the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator, not later than 60 days after enactment, to clarify that fully implanted active middle ear hearing devices qualify as prosthetics—as defined in 42 CFR 414.202—and thus are not subject to Medicare's hearing aid coverage exclusion under section 1862(a)(7) of the Social Security Act. (As background, Medicare Part B covers prosthetic devices but excludes routine hearing aids.)
