H.R. 1930 — Border Workforce Improvement Act

This section directs the Secretary of Homeland Security, in coordination with the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), to assess staffing needs at the southern border within 90 days of enactment. The assessment must (1) review existing staffing models and the effects of details and overtime, (2) identify workload factors within and outside Department of Homeland Security control and related solutions, and (3) specify critical gaps in human resources, technology integration, and risk management systems; and, within 180 days after completion, the Secretary must submit a report to the House and Senate Committees on Homeland Security and Appropriations containing the findings and implementation plans.
