H.R. 212 — Capitol Remembrance Act

This section directs the Architect of the Capitol, in consultation with the Joint Committee on the Library, to design and install not later than two years after enactment a permanent exhibit in a prominent location in the United States Capitol depicting the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The exhibit must (1) preserve and include, to the extent practicable, damaged property from the Capitol or Capitol Grounds (as defined in 40 U.S.C. 5102); (2) include existing photographic records of the attack; (3) include a plaque honoring the U.S. Capitol Police and other law enforcement agencies that protected the Capitol, the sacrifice of Officers Brian Sicknick, Howard Liebengood, Jeffrey Smith, Gunther Hashida, and Kyle DeFreytag, other individuals injured in the protection effort, and Capitol staff who restored the complex; and (4) may include artwork depicting the attack. This section authorizes appropriations as necessary, to remain available until expended.
