H.R. 2168 — BO’s Act

This section directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to conduct a study on the use of home cardiorespiratory monitors for infants in relation to preventing sudden unexpected infant death. Not later than one year after the date of enactment, the Secretary must submit a report to Congress describing the study results, including (1) evidence on the effectiveness, performance, and accuracy of such monitors that track heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and other vital signs; (2) new models of care to improve the infant home sleeping environment, including monitor use; (3) health care plan criteria for medically appropriate coverage of such monitors; and (4) recommendations on whether the monitors demonstrate product efficacy supporting coverage under public or private health insurance plans.
