H.R. 2245 — Autonomy for Disabled Veterans Act

This section increases the maximum cost of improvements and structural alterations furnished by VA as part of home health services (i.e., modifications necessary for treatment continuation or access to a veteran's home or essential lavatory/sanitary facilities), for veterans who first apply on or after May 5, 2010, and on or after enactment of this Act: (1) to $10,000 (from $6,800) in higher-priority cases under 38 U.S.C. §1710(a)(1) or for disabilities described in §1710(a)(2)(C); (2) to $5,000 (from $2,000) in other cases under §1710(a). Veterans who exhausted eligibility before enactment receive no additional benefits.

This section requires the Secretary to annually increase the dollar amount specified in subsection (a)(2) by the percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (United States city average) over the prior 12-month period for which data is available, or to maintain the prior fiscal year's amount if there is no such increase.
