H.R. 2268 — Veterans Homecare Choice Act of 2025

This section amends the Veterans Community Care Program by (1) adding nurse registries—including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, home health aides, companions, or homemakers furnishing services through a nurse registry—to the list of specified health care providers (redesignating the prior catch-all provision as paragraph (6)); and (2) defining a nurse registry as a person that procures contracts or agreements for such individuals to provide health care-related or assistive services (including directly to patients or in support of health care facilities) and satisfies applicable state licensure requirements. (As background, the program furnishes hospital care, medical services, and extended care services to covered veterans—i.e., those enrolled under VA's patient enrollment system or otherwise eligible—through authorized non-VA providers, with required VA coordination to ensure timely access and continuity of care.)
