H.R. 2277 — FACT Act

This section renames the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee—established by the CARES Act to oversee federal spending under pandemic relief laws (i.e., CARES Act, American Rescue Plan Act, and related statutes)—as the Fraud Prevention and Accountability Committee and extends it through December 31, 2026 (from September 30, 2025). It further makes technical and conforming amendments to the committee's authorizing provision, including (1) updating the section heading; (2) revising multiple internal references from the former Inspector General Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. App.) to the recodified provisions in Title 5, United States Code (i.e., §§404(b)(1), 406, and 424); (3) inserting "Government" before "Reform" in subsection (a)(2)(C); and (4) deeming any prior references to the former name in federal law, executive orders, rules, or documents as referring to the new name.
