H.R. 2319 — Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act of 2025

This section directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), in consultation with the Secretaries of Defense and Veterans Affairs, to conduct an interagency review evaluating the status of, and identifying opportunities to accelerate, federal research on (1) lung cancer in women, (2) lung cancer in underserved populations eligible for screening per U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommendations, (3) access to lung cancer preventive services, and (4) strategic public awareness and education campaigns on lung cancer. The review must assess prior research outcomes, current activities, and knowledge gaps across federal agencies; identify opportunities for collaborative research to address gaps in women's lung cancer research, evaluate environmental and genomic factors, and advance imaging for risk assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive services; develop a national lung cancer screening strategy to expand access, particularly for women and underserved populations; and develop a national public education campaign on lung cancer in those groups and the importance of early detection. HHS must submit a report on the review to Congress not later than two years after enactment.
