H.R. 2442 — Freedom from Unfair Gun Taxes Act of 2025

This section prohibits a state or political subdivision from levying or collecting an excise tax on the sale of a firearm, ammunition, or a part or component thereof by a manufacturer or dealer in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce. It specifies that this prohibition does not affect the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act (i.e., the federal program that imposes excise taxes on firearms, ammunition, and archery equipment, with revenues distributed to states for wildlife conservation and restoration).
