H.R. 2493 — Improving Care in Rural America Reauthorization Act of 2025

This section requires the HHS Secretary, in awarding rural health care services outreach grants under Section 330A(e) of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 254c(e)), to ensure that grant funds are used to meet the health care needs of, and involve, rural underserved populations in the local community or region served. It further requires the same for rural health network development grants under Section 330A(f), to increase access to quality health care services through integrated networks and involve such populations in network planning, development, and implementation. (Thus, these programs—which fund projects to expand delivery of health care services and integrate care networks in rural areas—must now prioritize underserved rural residents.) The section also reauthorizes these programs, including small health care provider quality improvement grants, through 2030 (from 2025).
