This section establishes fertility-related care coverage, including diagnosis and treatments such as in vitro fertilization (limited to three completed oocyte retrievals and unlimited embryo transfers per American Society for Reproductive Medicine guidelines), sperm and egg retrieval, preservation of reproductive material, artificial insemination, medications, and other services as determined by the Secretary of Defense, for active duty uniformed services members and their dependents under TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Select (new 10 U.S.C. §1074p). The section further directs the Secretary of Defense to establish a fertility-related care coordination program to ensure timely care, including training and support for community providers on the unique needs of service members and dependents (new 10 U.S.C. §1110c). A conforming amendment is made to 10 U.S.C. §1079(a). The amendments apply to services provided on or after October 1, 2027.
