H.R. 2580 — Kissimmee River Wild and Scenic River Act

This section designates the restored segment of the Kissimmee River in Florida—beginning approximately 16 miles downstream of Lake Kissimmee and ending approximately 15 miles upstream of Lake Okeechobee (roughly 31 miles)—as a recreational river within the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, to be administered by the Secretary of the Interior. It withdraws Federal lands within the boundaries of this segment, subject to valid existing rights, from (1) entry, appropriation, or disposal under public land laws; (2) location, entry, and patent under mining laws; and (3) disposition under laws relating to mineral and geothermal leasing or mineral materials.
