§4. Conforming amendments
This section makes conforming amendments to multiple firearm statutes—including 18 U.S.C. §§922(t), 923(d)(1)(B), and 925A; §103 of the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (34 U.S.C. §40901); and §§101(b) and 102 of the NICS Improvement Amendments Act of 2007 (34 U.S.C. §§40911(b), 40912)—to expand references to prohibitions on receipt of a firearm in violation of 18 U.S.C. 922(g) (possession/receipt by prohibited persons, e.g., felons) to also encompass knowing sales or dispositions, or receipt, in violation of 922(d) (transfers to prohibited persons, e.g., fugitives, unlawful drug users) or 922(g). (Thus, these changes standardize background check triggers under the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), federal firearms licensing criteria, prohibited purchaser reporting, and state/mental health record submissions to cover both transfer and possession prohibitions.)
