H.R. 2699 — Veterans’ Telecommunication Protection Act

This section requires providers of covered services—cable services (as defined in 47 U.S.C. 602) and non-mobile voice services (as defined in 47 U.S.C. 227(e)(8))—to charge veterans’ organizations recognized by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs under 38 U.S.C. 5902 (i.e., organizations such as the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars authorized to assist veterans with VA benefit claims) the residential rate applicable to an individual or household if lower than the commercial rate. The requirement applies to services provided on or after the date of enactment.
