H.R. 270 — To authorize the waiver of costs of activities relating to evacuation of United States citizens when their lives are endangered by war or acts of terrorism.

This section authorizes the Secretary of State, with regard to the repatriations loan program (i.e., loans to destitute U.S. citizens abroad to facilitate their return home), to waive costs of activities relating to the evacuation of U.S. citizens whose lives are endangered by war or acts of terrorism. (Thus, such evacuations—previously conducted on a reimbursable basis not exceeding reasonable commercial air fares—may now be provided without repayment in specified cases.)
