H.R. 2757 — Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act of 2025

This section adds audiology services (i.e., hearing and balance assessment services through December 31, 2026, and, effective January 1, 2027, diagnostic and treatment services legally authorized under state law that would otherwise be covered if furnished by a physician or incident to a physician's service) to the list of Medicare Part B covered services under section 1861(s)(2)(KK) of the Social Security Act and authorizes qualified audiologists to furnish such services without physician care, referral, or supervision. It establishes payment for these services at 80 percent of the lesser of the actual charge or the physician fee schedule amount; permits payment on an assignment-related basis; and designates qualified audiologists as eligible practitioners in rural health clinics and federally qualified health centers. (As background, prior to these changes, Medicare Part B covered audiology services only if furnished by a physician or incident to a physician's service.) A rule of construction specifies that the amendments do not expand the scope of covered audiology services beyond those payable as of December 31, 2026. The changes apply to services furnished on or after January 1, 2027.
