H.R. 2830 — Public Safety Officer Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury Health Act of 2025

This section establishes requirements under a new section 393E of the Public Health Service Act for the Secretary, acting through the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to collect and make publicly available information on concussion and traumatic brain injury among public safety officers (i.e., as defined in section 1204 of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, generally including law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other first responders). The Secretary must update the CDC's traumatic brain injury website and disseminate the information to medical and public health professionals, public safety employers and employee representatives, mental health professionals, patients and families, and institutions of higher education and researchers, in consultation with those groups; additional dissemination may occur through nonprofits, labor organizations, governmental entities, and media. The Secretary may also support public and private efforts to develop model guidelines, protocols, and evidence-based practices for treatment through grants, contracts, or cooperative agreements.
