H.R. 2831 — Small Business Energy Loan Enhancement Act

This section increases the maximum amount of section 502 loans by the Small Business Administration (SBA) to state and local development companies—for projects that reduce a small business borrower's energy consumption by at least 10% or generate renewable energy or renewable fuels, such as biodiesel or ethanol production—to $10 million per project (from $5.5 million). (These loans assist small businesses with plant acquisition, construction, conversion, or expansion.) The section also requires the SBA Administrator to submit to Congress, not later than one year after enactment and annually thereafter, a report detailing the industries and geographic areas for which such loans were made.
