H.R. 2868 — SAVE Our Poultry Act

This section adds highly pathogenic avian influenza as a high-priority research and extension area (7 U.S.C. 5925(d)(21)). Under this area, competitive grants may be made to land-grant colleges and universities to study the disease for purposes of (1) developing and improving poultry vaccine efficacy, including researching effectiveness across species, improving formulations and delivery mechanisms, and assessing domestic and international market implications; and (2) enhancing biosecurity for poultry producers, including evaluating training and practices, improving farm-level interventions, and developing new disinfection methods.
