H.R. 287 — Mobile Post Office Relief Act

This section requires the U.S. Postal Service, not later than three business days after a postal retail facility becomes a covered postal retail facility, to station a Postal Service vehicle or mobile facility in the geographic area served by that facility to provide retail postal services previously offered there, including sales of boxes and packaging materials, post office box access for mail receipt, and processing of change-of-address or temporary mail hold requests. A covered postal retail facility is a fixed Postal Service or contract-operated facility that is at least 0.5 miles from all other such facilities, has temporarily ceased providing retail postal services, has not provided them in the preceding 60 days, and—in the case of contractor-operated facilities—had services cease prior to contract expiration or termination. The mobile services must continue until the facility ceases to be covered and apply to facilities already covered as of enactment with a 30-day deployment deadline.
