H.R. 289 — SAP Act of 2025

This section amends the competitive grants program for promoting the domestic maple syrup industry by (1) requiring the Secretary of Agriculture, beginning with the first request for grant applications at least one year after enactment of the SAP Act of 2025, to solicit input from maple industry stakeholders on research and education priorities no later than six months prior to the request and to consider such input in awarding grants; and (2) extending the authorization of appropriations at $20 million annually through FY2030 (from FY2023). (The program supports states, tribal governments, and research institutions in research and education, natural resource sustainability, market promotion, and encouraging private Acer landowners to initiate or allow public maple-sugaring.)
