H.R. 292 — GRAPE Act

This section directs the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) to carry out research and development, or contract with qualified persons for such work, on a policy to insure table, wine, and juice grapes against losses due to a freeze event, not later than one year after enactment. The section requires the FCIC to make the policy available not later than 18 months after enactment if it meets approval standards under section 508(h), notwithstanding limitations in section 508(a)(1) and (2). The section further requires the FCIC to submit a report to the House and Senate Committees on Agriculture and Appropriations not later than two years after enactment that includes the research results and a description of any policies made available.
