H.R. 2921 — Federal Firefighter Cancer Detection and Prevention Act of 2025

This section requires the Secretary of Defense to provide, at no cost to Department of Defense firefighters during their annual periodic health assessments (or other specified intervals), medical testing and related services to detect, document, and prevent certain cancers, including: (1) for female firefighters, mammograms biannually if ages 40-49, annually if age 50 or older, or as clinically indicated, with radiologist review comparing to prior mammograms; (2) for firefighters age 40 or older, communication of colon cancer screening risks and benefits, and for age 45 or older, visual examinations (e.g., colonoscopy) or stool-based blood testing at regular intervals or as clinically indicated, with physician review; (3) for male firefighters, communication of prostate cancer screening risks and benefits plus annual prostate-specific antigen testing if age 50 or older, age 40 or older and high-risk (e.g., African American or with family history), or as clinically indicated; and (4) routine screenings for other cancers identified by the CDC as having higher risk or occurrence among firefighters. Firefighters may opt out; the Secretary must use consensus technical standards, document anonymized test acceptance and performance rates and results to identify cancer trends, and may share data with the CDC. "Firefighter" has the meaning given in section 707 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 (10 U.S.C. 1074m note).
