H.R. 2949 — Working Families Task Force Act of 2025

This section establishes an Interagency National Task Force on Working Families (Working Families Task Force), to be created by the Secretary of Labor not later than 90 days after enactment in consultation with the Secretaries of Health and Human Services, Education, Housing and Urban Development, Commerce, Treasury, Transportation, and Agriculture and the Small Business Administration Administrator. The Task Force, composed of at least 10 members designated by those agencies, must meet not less than once per calendar quarter (with a two-thirds quorum) to (1) identify key factors impacting working families' standard of living, such as affordability challenges (including inflation), access to livable-wage jobs, child care, tax incentives (e.g., child tax credit), health care, housing, education and training, financial services, food, technology, environment, energy, transportation, and federal agency staffing cuts; (2) assess macroeconomic conditions' effects on families; (3) evaluate current federal policies and programs; and (4) develop legislative and regulatory recommendations after consulting external stakeholders. Not later than 180 days after enactment, the Task Force must submit a report with findings, recommendations, consulted stakeholders, and meeting minutes to specified House and Senate committees (e.g., Education and Workforce/Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions; Financial Services/Finance) and make it publicly available on the Task Force website.
