H.R. 3057 — National POW/MIA Memorial and Museum Act

This section states congressional findings concerning the POW/MIA Memorial and Museum in Jacksonville, Florida, including that it honors the 142,000 members of the Armed Forces captured as prisoners of war since World War II and the approximately 82,000 members currently missing in action or unaccounted for since World War II; that it provides a unique venue to publicize their stories, the history of the POW/MIA logo, and Naval Air Station Cecil Field; and that it will attract visitors through interactive exhibits, educational programs, and events.

This section designates the memorial and museum under construction on a 26-acre area on POW-MIA Memorial Parkway in Jacksonville, Florida, as the National POW/MIA Memorial and Museum. It requires the director to submit to Congress, within 90 days of enactment, a report containing (1) a budget for the five-year period beginning on the expected public opening date, (2) a description of the organizational structure, (3) any bylaws or rules, and (4) a list of accrediting organizations or entities. The designation may be withdrawn if the museum is not operational in a satisfactory manner five years after enactment or if the report is submitted late.
