H.R. 3172 — To amend section 287 of the Immigration and Nationality Act with respect to certain uniform requirements for United States immigration officers.

This section requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to mandate that covered immigration officers display bold and visible agency identification during immigration enforcement actions (e.g., patrols, raids, pickups, or serving warrants). Covered officers include U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel and any other officials deputized by the Secretary for immigration enforcement; such identification must measure no smaller than 12 inches by 6 inches on the front or back of the uniform and remain uncovered by external armor or accessories.
