H.R. 3230 — Financial Institution Regulatory Tailoring Enhancement Act

This section increases from $10 billion to $50 billion the asset threshold for regulatory tailoring and relief applicable to insured depository institutions and certain other entities in four areas: (1) supervision and enforcement authority of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau over large banks and credit unions (Consumer Financial Protection Act §§1025(a), 1026(a)); (2) compliance program requirements under the Volcker Rule, which generally prohibits proprietary trading and certain hedge and private equity fund activities by banking entities (Bank Holding Company Act §13(h)(1)(B)(i)); (3) qualified mortgage underwriting standards (Truth in Lending Act §129C(b)(2)(F)(i)); and (4) leverage and risk-based capital requirements (Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act §201(a)(3)(A)).
