H.R. 3431 — Green Energy for Federal Buildings Act

This section revises federal renewable energy consumption targets under section 203(a) of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (42 U.S.C. 15852(a)) by amending paragraph (3) to require not less than 7.5 percent for fiscal years 2013 through 2019 (from fiscal year 2013 and each fiscal year thereafter) and adding paragraphs (4) through (6) to require not less than (4) 35 percent for fiscal years 2030 through 2039, (5) 75 percent for fiscal years 2040 through 2049, and (6) 100 percent for fiscal year 2050 and each fiscal year thereafter. The section further revises subsection (c) to direct the Secretary of Energy to prioritize, to the maximum extent economically feasible and technically practicable, renewable energy produced on-site at a federal facility, on federal lands, or on Indian land (as defined in 25 U.S.C. 3501 to include lands within reservations, trust or restricted lands, certain Alaska Native corporation lands, and census tracts where the majority of residents are Alaska Natives or enrolled members of federally recognized tribes).
