H.R. 3511 — Preparing for the Future Act

This section establishes a grant program for school psychology students in Part D of title V of the Public Health Service Act. The Assistant Secretary shall provide grants of $8,000 per year—advanced primarily to eligible institutions (at least 85% prepaid) for distribution to eligible recipients, or directly to recipients if needed—to undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students after completion of half the required credit hours (totaling up to $16,000) and to graduate students in the first two years of a school psychology degree program (totaling up to $16,000), with prorated reductions for part-time enrollment and a limit not to exceed cost of attendance when combined with other aid. Grants may cover tuition, fees, and institution-owned housing; eligibility includes remedial courses and approved study abroad.
