This section directs the President to prohibit the purchase of public or private real estate located in the United States by nonresident aliens, foreign businesses, or agents, trustees, or fiduciaries associated with the governments of specified foreign adversaries. Foreign adversaries include the People's Republic of China (including the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region but excluding Taiwan), Republic of Cuba, Islamic Republic of Iran, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, Venezuelan politician Nicolás Maduro, and any foreign terrorist organization designated by the Secretary of State under INA §219 (8 U.S.C. 1189); "United States" means the states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, and other U.S. territories or possessions.
