“To amend title 10, United States Code, to establish an oath for members separating from the Armed Forces.”
No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section establishes a voluntary separation oath that members of the armed forces may take prior to retirement or other separation from service, other than pursuant to a court-martial sentence. The oath recognizes the member's unique service experiences, and commits the member to support fellow veterans and protect the United States and Constitution; preserve values learned in service; maintain physical and mental health; provide and seek help from fellow veterans; and avoid harm to self or others. This section also revises the provision on oath administration to apply to both the enlistment oath and separation oath, and makes clerical amendments to the section heading and table of contents.
