H.R. 3648 — Transit Captions Innovations Act

This section expands eligible uses of funds under the Federal Transit Administration's technical assistance and standards development program (49 U.S.C. 5312(e)(3)) by adding the deployment of real-time transcription and translation technology to improve the rider experience for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and limited English proficient individuals.

This section authorizes appropriations of $4,000,000 for FY2027, $4,100,000 for FY2028, $4,202,500 for FY2029, $4,307,562 for FY2030, and $4,415,251 for FY2031 to carry out projects eligible under section 5312(e)(3)(D) (i.e., technical assistance to public transportation providers designated as rural providers under the section 5311 formula grants program).
