H.R. 3711 — POST GRAD Act

This section reinstates authority to make interest-subsidized Federal Direct Stafford Loans to graduate and professional students for periods of instruction beginning after June 30, 2025 (previously terminated for such periods beginning on or after July 1, 2012, with higher unsubsidized loan limits as a substitute). (As background, Federal Direct Stafford Loans do not accrue interest for eligible borrowers while in school at least half-time or during grace and deferment periods; the exception for certain teacher preparation coursework remains in effect.)
