H.R. 3780 — Border Operations Service Medal Act

This section states congressional findings concerning a January 2025 presidential Executive Order authorizing national security operations along the U.S.-Mexico border, the participation of servicemembers and federal personnel in related security, humanitarian, and enforcement efforts, and the need to recognize such contributions with a distinct service medal.

This section establishes a Border Operations Service Medal for active-duty members of the Armed Forces and members of the National Guard and Reserve who serve in designated border security operations from January 1, 2025, until the conclusion of such operations. The Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the heads of military service branches, must design and issue the medal, authorize it for wear according to military uniform regulations and federal service recognition guidelines, and issue implementing regulations not later than 60 days after enactment.
