H.R. 3832 — Kerrie Orozco First Responders Family Support Act

This section establishes naturalization eligibility under the Immigration and Nationality Act for the surviving spouse, child, or parent of a U.S. citizen public safety officer who dies as a result of injury or disease incurred or aggravated by such employment. Such individuals may be naturalized upon compliance with all other applicable requirements, with no prior U.S. residence or physical presence required (provided a surviving spouse was living in marital union with the citizen spouse at the time of death); the term _public safety officer_ has the meaning given in section 1204 of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (i.e., individuals serving in an official capacity as law enforcement officers, firefighters, chaplains, or members of rescue squads or ambulance crews).
